We went as a family; my wife, daughter, grandson and I, to visit Dalphine Sheldrick at her elephant orphanage in Nairobi. I'd been filming there before with 'Rolfs Amazing World of Animals' and had enjoyed it so much, I couldn't wait to get back. After several joyful days in Nairobi, following the progress of the tiny baby elephants, we flew to Tsavo National Park to see where the orphans go when they start to grow a bit larger and are introduced to the herds of wild elephants. Each day they go for long walks with their keepers, and we were privileged to be there when they had a wonderful play period in a mud bath. This is a composite painting made from two stills from a video I shot of that joyous occasion, when they had just come out of the orange/brown mud prior to moving on with their daily walk. It's a lovely memory of a beautiful experience.
