My wife and I stayed with friends on the Greek Island of 'Hydra'. Our hostess was very much at ease with her own body and I took many beautiful photographs of her. She always wore her battered and slightly ripped, lovely old straw hat to keep the sun from burning her face.
I love the contrast of the sun browned flesh tones, the brilliant sunlight on the hat, and the cool blues of the water.
I always wonder how artists' like Claude Monet managed to stop the ever moving reflections in water and capture them so beautifully on canvas before the widespread use of photography. Even with the photographic reference, I had a very difficult job capturing the nuances of tone and colour of the water around our hostess, and especially the fore-shortened images of her feet under the water.
