This was painted from a photograph taken by my daughter Bindi of me snorkelling in the crystal clear waters around Malta. I bought a cheap underwater camera and sadly it didn't last very long, but at least it gave me some ammunition to create this painting that I love. When I'm underwater and see people swimming I particularly like the way the fierce Maltese sunlight throws dappled patterns on the swimmer's skin, and I love the way the swimmer is mirrored on the ever moving surface of the water.
I really enjoyed the painting that stab of purple colour on my trunks and the slightly muted purple of the reflection on the water above. I also like the effect of the buoyant body floating like a cork on the huge weight of the watewr below.
