This is a painting I did live, with 4" paintbrushes, for a 'Children in Need' television appearance. It was 6ft x 4ft on hardboard.
The painting was done from a series of sketches of various trees and buildings in snow and because of the pressure of doing it 'live' in front of cameras and a studio audience, the spontaneous rough effect of the trees painted on a wet background, and the very thick solid white of the snow scraped on with an almost dry brush technique - worked wonderfully. The oranges, yellows and reds of the warm welcoming interior contrast beautifully with the cold blues everywhere else.
