Established in 1999, Monet is a family business run by Steve, Lin & Lisa Butt in the beautiful surroundings of Charlton Estate in Shepton Mallet, Somerset.

Lin and Steve had been collecting art for years before deciding to display it all in one space - Charlton Estate, with its well-kept grounds, free car park and location in the rolling hills of Somerset, was perfect. At Lin's request the gallery was opened by the celebrated artist Mackenzie Thorpe, whose work Lin collects. "Our opening night drew in over 300 people from all over the country and since then we have grown from strength to strength", she says. In 2002, fed up of sub-contracting their framing work, Steve decided to teach himself this craft and shortly opened his own framing workshop on the same Estate. Now he attracts customers from far afield for his expertise, knowledge and straight forward honesty.  In 2003 Lisa decided to join the family business and wasted no time in creating a website for it. She also persuaded Lin & Steve to join eBay.

June 2004 saw the introduction of monetfineartgallery on eBay where to date has received over 2000 positive feedbacks as well as over 1000 new collectors worldwide. In May 2005, Lisa decided she wanted to try something different and sourced out the collectable market using eBay alone as a selling tool. This has so far delivered over 4300 positive repsonses with customers based from 'down the road' to as far afield as Australia. Don't let Monet's title mislead you. 2009 has saw the need to bring our website up to the 21st century and accomodate online shopping, I hope you enjoy our new look and can't wait to see you in the gallery!!!
